This handguard from American Built Arms is designed to work with both piston and direct impingement AR-15 gas system. It consists of upper and lower halves, each with their own heat shield and a purpose built, ergonomic hand grip area with heavy texture and an integral hand stop. It is constructed of fiber reinforced polymer and accommodates Mil-Spec add-on rails so accessories can be applied to meet operational needs. This makes a great, easy to install upgrade for standard factory plastic modern sporting rifle handguards.
